Fort Stockton RV Park
If you find yourself traveling across the 800ish miles of Texas you just might be looking for a spot to pack it in for the night. It’s very possible this might put you in the midst of the west Texas oil and gas exploration country. Or possibly you’re heading down to Big Bend (one of my favorite places). Well thank goodness for the town of Fort Stockton, located right on Interstate10. Although Fort Stockton may not be on your bucket list of favorite destination, it is a great stopping point and the Fort Stockton RV Park is the perfect spot for RV’ers.
Now let me be clear, this is a perfect overnight spot on your way to somewhere else so set your expectations properly. But for this purpose, its perfect. It’s essentially a large gravel parking lot but all the sites are large with ample maneuverability on the interior roads so there is no need to unhook your tow vehicle. The sites are full hook up and there’s even a dump station and propane available. But what about dinner, you ask? Well, they’ve thought about that too. On property is a café serving home cooked dinners and breakfast. Can you say “chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes”? And before you move ’em on, head ’em up in the morning stop in for some biscuits and gravy.
This place could not be any more convenient and perfect for the one (or two) night stop over. We were late leaving the next day due to some “technical difficulties” and it was interesting to see 90% turnover of RV’ers from day to day. The staff regrades each spot after the current pack moves out.
