Galveston Texas

Galveston was our destination for the fourth week of full-time RV living in the Georgetown 32J7… and the scene of the crime for our first RV experience a year early in “the rental”. We landed at our favorite RV park, Dellanera, on March 20, 2022. First on the agenda was to get settled and let the dogs run on the beach and get dirty. Needless to say they both absolutely love the beach and water.

This is a great place to enjoy lots of walks on the beach and sometimes you find a little surprise along the way, as we did on one day. We were walking down the beach for one of our morning leisurely strolls and stumble upon the Houston Zoo releasing sea turtles back into the Gulf after being rescued and rehabilitated from the big freeze in February 2021. That was an amazing experience.

The island offers great eating options. Some of our favorite restaurants on the island are Nate’s Seafood & Steaks in Jamaica Beach, Mosquito Café in old downtown and our all-time favorite, Gypsy Joynt, now located just off the Seawall.

Galveston was my special place in my younger years and I have many fond memories of the island. There are many options for things to do on and around the island, such as Moody Gardens, The Strand, Schlitterbahn Waterpark, Pleasure Pier with rides and games, and Rainforest Cafe with a ride inside of the restaurant. You can also do fishing charters, visit Bishops Palace Museum or do the Ashton Villas tour. Not very far down the road is the Kemah boardwalk with shopping, eating and amusement rides. Also, there are many great places to stay the night from hotels to beach houses. But most of all, there are miles and miles of beaches with beautiful sunsets and sunrises.

There is really something for everyone!

Be sure to check out our pics of Galveston.

We were just there last week! I was surprised by how big the island is and just how much there is to do! It was a lot of fun taking the kids to walk along the beach. Our trip got cut short and we weren’t able to do much extra in the two days that we were there, but the beach was a hit with everyone!

We stayed at Dellanera in Oct ’21. Wonderful trip with our Georgetown GT5. As a side trip, the Houston Space center was amazing.
