Hidden Cove Park
Based on a recommendation from my friend and long time RV’er, Alan, we camped at Hidden Cove on Lewisville Lake as our first stop as full time RV’ers. It was a great choice due to being close to the house we were just moving out of, but it offered so much more.
If you’re familiar with North Texas, you know that there are a lot of Army Corps of Engineer lakes. Although Lewisville Lake is a Corp lake, Hidden Cove is a private park so has considerably more amenities than the typical Corps run park. For example, Hidden Cove offers a full service marina, boat dock, boat/RV storage, a restaurant and cabin rentals.
The neighbors were a little fowl but we talked turkey and they moved on to the next campsite. Yes, we had wild turkeys frequenting our campsite and hiked with white tail deer crossing our paths. The park has lots of open space, plenty of trees and several hiking trails throughout. With the lake as the backdrop, it is a beautiful and relaxing place. We were there during the off season so it was not crowded at all.
If you are traveling through North Texas or local in the area, this is definitely worth a stop. My only cautions are that it’s not the cheapest place to stay and in peak season it can get a bit busy.
That sounds like a great first stop! Maybe James and I can take the kids there sometime when we need to get out of town!
