Hidden Valley RV Park
We were passing through San Antonio for a quick stop on our way down to the Rio Grand and needed a place to camp for a couple of nights. We found Hidden Valley and liked the reviews so figured we’d give it a try. The park is actually located in Von Ormy Texas on the outskirts of San Antonio. Once you’re there it feels like you’re way out in the country but actually only minutes from I35 and the outer loop, making it very convenient.
This is a very simple RV park, in fact their website even states “no frills”, but there is something very special and unique about it. From the minute we arrived we felt like family. There is a sense of community with this place, that you don’t normally get in an RV park. Teri and her husband have been managing and living at this park for over 30 years. When we arrived and checked in, Teri invited us to a coffee get together in the office the next morning. Teri had prepared a large spread of food and we got a chance to meet some really great people. The next night we were invited to a group campfire which they hosted as well… and another spread! Apparently this is a regular thing on the weekends.
There is a fair share of permanent residents at this small park, but the grounds are immaculate, and very serene as well. There’s a creek that runs through the back of the property, lots of trees and open areas. Since its located up on a a hill, you can catch some spectacular sunsets.
We were there for only two days, yet we felt we were leaving family when we left. We hope to meet up with our new friends, Richard and Brigitte soon.
