Kerrville-Schreiner Park
When visiting the Texas hill country, Kerrville in particular, there are several good camping spots and Kerrville-Schreiner Park is certainly one of them.
We like to stay in the State and COE parks throughout our journeys when we can because… well because they are a “park” and not the RV “parking lot” that you often find elsewhere. Kerrville-Schreiner Park was wonderful and in late March we felt like we had the place to ourselves. As it is, the RV spots are spread out very nicely, but with the park at a very low occupancy, we had all the room we could dream of. The only downside was those damn sticker burrs!
The River Trail, a concrete pathway, starts right at the park so downtown Kerrville is literally a walk away, albeit a 6 mile walk along the Guadalupe river in which you will likely encountered many deer. Speaking of the river, we had a great view of it right from our camping spot. The park offers camping from primitive camping spots, to cabins and RV spots of all sizes. There’s also many hiking trails right within the park itself which were great for us humans and the canines.
Overall I give Kerrville-Schreiner State park two thumbs up and definitely one of teh choices you should consider when camping in teh hill country of Texas.
