International FROG Rally

Attending rally’s is a popular activity for RVers. There are many organizations that host regional rallies across the country such as Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA) along with RV manufacturers. All that’s required to attend a rally is to be a member of their association, and in the case of manufacture rallies, own one of their RV’s. We attended the annual Forest River Owners Group (FROG) International rally again recently and it was a week of fun activities and comradery with fellow RVers.

This was our second FROG rally but we missed most of the first one due to contracting COVID two days into the event. It was nice getting the full experience this time, but we were exhausted after the week of activities.

Although Forest River holds regional FROG rallies across the country throughout the year, the International rally is the big annual event held in August at the Elkhart County Fairgrounds in Goshen Indiana. This is the perfect location as the fairgrounds is a beautiful facility that can accommodate hundreds of RVs and is located just outside of Elkhart where most RV manufacturers and suppliers are located.

Many people ask, “why attend an RV rally?”. Well, there’s lots of reasons to attend an RV rally, but as with most things in RV life, it starts with the people. This is a great opportunity to meet fellow RVers and share experiences. It’s not uncommon to leave a rally with new lifelong friendships. But rally’s offer much more, such as group meals and entertainment. We had some laughs compliments Rik Roberts, a Barney Fife impersonator and enjoyed some great 50s and 60s rock-n-roll from the Bulldogs.

One of the perks of being at a FROG rally is getting service issues taken care of on your rig. The entire Forest River service group attends the rally to take care of their customers issues. Although service is typically limited to RV’s within two years of ownership, these folks are happy to answer your questions and help you out in any way they can. There’s also other vendors at the show who will do tank cleaning or suspension upgrades, for example, and often have discount pricing during the rally.

You can spend hours perusing the many vendors and new Forest River RV’s that are on display, and all the right people are there to answer those burning questions you have been pondering. But the learning doesn’t stop there. The week is filled with technical seminars covering all aspects of RV’s and RV life. You will most certainly leave a rally a whole lot smarter than when you arrived.

Since we manage the Georgetown RV Owners Group (GROG), which is a group of owners of the Georgetown and FR3 motorhome models, we traditionally host a rally within the rally for our members. This year there were approximately 50 Georgetown and FR3 rigs so we had a good showing. Besides the owners, many of the Forest River folks attend our gatherings, something we always appreciate. We started off the week with a Meet and Greet to get to know one another and then later in the week had our potluck dinner, where everyone contributed for a delicious meal. One of our members also hosted a bicycle ride for those cyclist at the rally. Forest River then hosted a tour of the Georgetown/FR3 factory for us where we got to see first hand how they build these grand machines. We concluded our week of GROG activities with a very informative roundtable tech talk with support from our Forest River team again.

All-in-all it was a fantastic week at the FROG rally. We sincerely thank Rennie and Beth, along with the many volunteers, for their tireless effort running this rally like a well oiled machine. We also thank the Forest River service teams for stepping up once again and going above and beyond the call of duty. The Forest River Georgetown team, our partners in GROG, continue to amaze us with their support of our group and users. And to the GROG members in attendance along with the rest of the 3,300 plus GROG members, we thank you for the community that we have collectively built and continue to develop and hope to see you down the road a piece.
